Car Transport
Car transport (Australia) is usually divided into three groups, Domestic Car Transport, International Car Transport, and Public Transport (Australia). Each of these two categories of transport uses car carriers (especially, the interstate, state, and city transport categories) and is classified by country.
Domestic Car Transport
A domestic carrier is a commercial entity that provides goods or services over the network of a single locality or town in Australia (small towns may have only one small carrier), whereas many urban centers have several smaller companies supplying their metropolitan areas. An example of domestic carriage is TAFE and State Road Transportation Authority.
The first category is also known as “commercial transportation” and includes large regional corporations such as Federal Express and Road Transport (Australia). The second category of “commercial transportation” includes smaller regional organizations (such as City Light and Tiger) that specialize in providing services around major cities within Australia including Canberra, Brisbane, Alice Springs, Darwin, Geelong, Gold Coast, Launceston, Marion Bay, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Bendigo, Bledisloe, and Stirling. Most other services can be provided by larger regional agencies such as the Department of Transport & Main Roads, Bureau of Meteorology, etc. Local agencies may provide some public transport services that include but are not limited to Metered Mass Transit, Tram, buses and Shuttle, and so on. However, this section is more about those who offer services for general citizens rather than for local populations.
The third class of domestic vehicle carrier is interstate or state government operator which includes: Queensland Government Transport; Victorian Government Transport; Northern Territory Government Transport; South Australian Government Transport; ACT Government Transport; Tasmania Health & Wellbeing Ministry Transport Services; Western Australian Government Transport Transport; Northern Territory Government Transport (and it’s subsidiary operators); Victoria Government Transport; Labor Government Transport; ACT Government Transport; NT Government Transport and so on. These are generally considered part of State Governments and are sometimes called “state government transport”. Some examples of State Government Transport are Southland Motorway Service, Westlink Bus service, and the Regional Train. National Transport in Australia is also categorized under Interstate Transport, which, according to Wikipedia is “a national organization that coordinates and directs public transportation across Australia, with the responsibility to provide road, rail, inland water, air, electricity, sanitation, waste management, education services, health, and social services.
